An Inspiring Leader for Jasper County

Travus Blevins is a lifelong public servant and dedicated law enforcement professional running for Sheriff of Jasper County, Georgia. At 39 years old, Travus brings over 17 years of law enforcement experience, having served his community with integrity and commitment since 2008. Travus' experience and leadership include starting his career working in the jail. After attending basic mandate, Travus transferred to the uniform patrol division where he soon became a field training officer. Travus was then promoted to Investigator where he worked various crimes in depth and began to build a relationship with the district attorneys office. Travus then went back to patrol and took on the role of K9 handler apprehending numerous criminals along side his faithful companion K9 Jessie. During this time Travus was asked to attend instructor school so that he could teach and pass along his wealth of knowledge. Travus then began climbing the supervisory ranks up to his current position as assistant Criminal Investigations Division Commander at the rank of Lieutenant. 

Throughout his career, Travus has built a reputation for professionalism, accountability, and a strong belief in community-focused policing. He understands that effective law enforcement is rooted in trust, transparency, and teamwork—both within the Sheriff’s Office and with the citizens it serves. Travus co-created a multi jurisdictional task force to include 11 other agencies in bringing a metro Atlanta crime ring of commercial burglaries, auto thefts and financial fraud resulting in multiple arrests, convictions and asset forfeitures. This success led to Travus creating a Major Crimes Unit within his agency.

Travus is a devoted husband and father of five children, and his family is the foundation of his values and work ethic. Outside of law enforcement, he enjoys spending time outdoors and making memories with his family—experiences that reinforce his dedication to keeping Jasper County a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.
